  1. It’s been a while…
I already came back three weeks ago from my 2nd holiday with Gus (pictures to be found under “Urlaub” and the last link of those…and then the individual links in between). We had an amazing time and the weather and the trips were just awesome!
But even two weeks fly by in a second and in about 4 days I already have my first 2 final exams of my second, and therefore last, semester. Really scary thinking that I am graduating in a about 1 1/2 months and exams will be over in 25 days…
It’s been great in OZ and I love my life here… bestest choice ever I guess…
Hope you are all doing well! Catch up soon! xxx

  2. Back in town :) !!!! My hols are unfortunately over now and it’s only one more week until uni resumes… that really sucks… but hey, it’s the last semester before graduation so not much time to got :D I had 6 weeks off of which I was on the road for 3 1/2 weeks. My journey started on the 1st of July with Karolina and a flight to Adelaide where we stayed for the day before going on to Alice Springs by Bus. There we did a 3-day-Uluru Tour and after having stayed a day in Alice Springs, we went off with another tour towards Darwin. Having arrived in Darwin, we booked another trip for 3 days, exploring the Kakadu Nationalpark. The last days we spend in Darwin before this trip ended. So after 2 weeks we flew fromDarwin to Brisbane.

From there, Karolina went back to Sydney and I met up wth Gustavo to travel along the Eastcoast back to Sydney in 10 days. We have been to Brisbane, Hervey Bay, Noosa, Australian Zoo, Dreamworld (Themepark), Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.

It was a lot to see and do for only 3 1/2 weeks time and it was a bit of rushing from A to B to C to… but it was definitly worth it! And the weather was just beautiful. Apart from the first day in Adelaide where it was a bit dull, gray and rainy, I was able to enjoy 24 days of sunshine and summer temperatures!

For those who are able to understand German and would like to read about the travel, just click on http://andreaoz.wordpress.com/urlaub/

Okay guys… I hope you are all good!

    Take care!
    Love, Andrea

  3. Hey guys!
Only 3 more days and I am off! I will fly to Adelaide with a friend of mine and then we travel up all the way to Darwin. That basically means we cross the whole country vertically. I am sooooo looking forward to that! Especially because we will be in the sun in the end (for my birthday!!!)!!!! I SO need a tan!
When I am back, I will have a lot to tell and show you!
    Hope you are all good!
    Take care!

Yepp… so this is actually all what has happened in the meantime…

I have another exam this Friday (gotta start studying tomorrow) and then I have 1 1/2 months off (up to the end of July).
Have not really put any plans into place yet, but I am still working on that as good as I can. Am trying to get to the Westcoast somehow, but not sure yet whether that’s working out! Will let you know!

Take care! Will definitly write again soon! Promised!!!! xxx

  5. Ok, just a quick one:
I am currently packed with stuff for uni.. writing assignments and studying for tests is quite time consuming and the weather is currently not really the best either… but at least that way I do not feel bad about sitting inside doing things for uni! (You always gotta see the positive aspects!!!).

Apart from that I have been to the Olympic site and to the Sydney Aquarium in the meantime. You can see pictures in the latestes articles on the front page of my blog.

Tonight we are going to celebrate Anja’s birthday and I hope it will be nice to spend some time withought books or electronic journals or definitions which I need to know by Monday!

Oh and I have spend Tues and Wed arguing with a French bloke… he is one of the team members for my International Marketing class… such a d***h*** but whatever… just fulfilling the typical French prejudices… and as I am quite self-confident and stubborn… he just doesn’t get anywhere with his arrogant attitude.. sorry mate :)
But hey… that’s the thing about project groups… you have to get along but don’t need to be close friends! As long as the presentation is good on Tuesday I don’t mind whatever his opinion is or whatever is going on in his f*** mind!

    Ok… gotta study now…
Please keep your fingers crossed for me for next week’s Monday and Tuesday! Or knock on wood… or just wish me luck :)

P.S.: After mid-sem-break I will tell you a bit about Tassie and Melbourne, promised!!!!

  6. I am sorry for not having written anything in English for a longer while now, but it really feels like the week is already over before it actually starts… it’s unbelievable how time is flying… actually quite scary! 1 1/2 months are already over and I cannot tell whether I have done a lot or not so much, but apart from studying an awful lot I have been to the beach several times now, had a couple of good nights out, of course saw the opera house and the harbour bridge, been to the Botanical Gardens, saw Darling Harbour and the Rocks, even had some delicious pancakes in the Rocks (btw the ones made of buttermilk are better than the chocolate ones!), took the ferry, been on a harbour cruise, saw some markets, been to Chinatown, and so on and so forth. The last thing we did on Friday was surfing for the first time. It was really hard work and you have to be pretty patient but it was really a great day out and we had so much fun as you probably can see on the pictures. All of us stood up for a couple of times and that was really great stuff! Apart from that of course I cannot go to Australia and not try surfing at least for one (am actually thinking about getting a surfboard now…).

So as you can see… I am having an awesome, terrific, magnifique time here and I enjoy my stay! It’s a great feeling knowing you can be at the beach within an hour and at the opera house in only 30 mins…

Hope this all makes you at least a bit jealous…
And if not… then maybe the idea of 30°C and proper sunshine and a clowdless sky?

Keep in touch! Lots of love,
    Andrea

  7. Have been away for the weekend on Milson Island (former prison island) with a lot of other international students. It was a lot of fun and it was a good change before the start of uni which was actually today.
Soooo many impressions… which I can hardly sum up in some words.
Pictures from th weekend can be checked out on the first page of my blog and some photos of o-week kick off will follow.
Apart from that I think I have already settled in a bit and am quite confident uni will be good even though it will probably be an awful lot of work.Never mind… I kind of knew what I was getting into!
    Keep you posted!
    Take care all of you!

  8. Hi guys!
So… have been here for a week now and it already feels like half a century… pretty weird! But it is nice being here and I am totally confident it will be an awesome year with lots of great experiences. My housemates are pretty nice and I already met sooo many people. It’s easy to get in contact with others! Haven’t done any sightseeing so far, but will do that as soon as the weather is changing. Do have a lot of blisters though… does hurt a bit, but hey… cannot help it anyway! Met about 20 Germany today and had a really funny day. Been out for some drinks and grabbed some food. But am pretty knackered out as I have only been in bed at 5am this morning after having met a German bloke in the local pub and we talked for ages. Apart from meeting people, going out and having strolls in town I am not doing anything yet… but next week is packed with uni things. Will go to the zoo tomorrow with other international students and on Tuesday I’ll have my official orientation day and then on Wednesday I will be able to enrol in the units I’d like to take. Fingers crossed I get the ones I wanna join!!! Thursday I might actually go to the beach and from Fri to Sat we go on an Aussie Getaway. We’ll see how that goes. At least the weather should be a lot better for that!
Look forward to this week. Guess it will be fun!

  9. Alright… I arrived in Sydney yesterday morning and am still not my usual self yet, but it has been a really long flight as you can imagine and haven’t slept properly last night as living in a hostel dorm room with 5 other girls from whom 1 is talking while sleeping and 1 is coming back at 3am after having gone partying is not really easy. But anyway… That was the only night as I have already found a place to stay!!! Was pretty random and I was probably just lucky but it’s good to have something even if only for the first three month. (I just didn’t want to commit to the room any longer but I do have the option to stay longer!) It is not the perfect place, but I know that we Germans are maybe a bit too picky so that I am still kind of thinking it will be alright. I am just not sure whether it is good to access with public transport but I will find out in the next couple of days/ weeks I assume!
Anyway.. I am happy to have a home even if maybe only temporary and it is affordable. Other places are far more expensive and as I don’t get any concession on bus or rail fares it is good to save money that way. We’ll see how it goes!
Apart from that the weather is ok. Not too bright and sunny but good to get used to the climate for the first days! Did not even have to use sunscreen yet (to be honest I haven’t even bought any yet!).
The forecast is pretty much the same for the next couple of days but I hope it will change soon as I really need a tan. I feel sooo pale looking around!
Have not been to the opera yet or any other sight, but as soon as I have the time and the weather is good I will post some pictures!
Still cannot believe I am here… and still feel a bit out of place… but hopefully will settle in pretty soon!
German article will follow soon.. maybe tonight when I am @ my new “home” so that I can access the internet with my laptop!
Take care all of you! Miss you guys… it’s strange experiencing all this here alone… but do already have contact to some Germans here… makes me feel a bit better! First meeting for a coffee on Friday and tomorrow I will go and have a look at the uni! Am pretty excited!
    Next update to come soon!
    Andrea x

  10. And finally I am leaving tomorrow!
Been out with most of my best mates last night and it was a fab time! Will really miss this crazy bunch of people I can call my lovely friends. Had an amazing time in Germany after my return from England but now it’s time to move on again even if only for a couple of months.
Will be back for Christmas… kinda feels like next week… I am sure time will be rushing… but hopefully there will be plenty of time to explore the Australian continent!

Will keep you updated as soon as anything exciting is happening! x

  11. I finally received my Confirmation of Enrolment.
Was waiting on that for ages… at least it felt like! Hopefully I will receive my visa quite soon as I could only apply for it now with the CoE. It should take about 48hours… but hey.. you never know!

Only 10 days remaining and I will be on my way to down under! Excitement is rising!
But it should all be just fine! Hopefully…

As the Aussies would say.. no worries mate!
